Father’s Day: Build Your Own Burger Bar
Celebrate Dad with a delicious home-cooked meal this year! You can’t go wrong with this build your own burger bar complete with the juiciest patties and an array of toppings and condiments. This fun outdoor activity is a great way to get the entire family involved in Dad’s special day.

Ingredients
For the Burger
1 whole egg
1 pound 85% lean ground beef
½ white onion, grated
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon dry mustard
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
Optional Burger Bar Accompaniments
Regular or Gluten-Free bun
Lettuce Wraps
Pickles and/or pickle relish
Slaw
Sautéed mushrooms
Blue cheese, gouda, cheddar, etc.
Onions, sliced or sautéed
Sliced tomatoes
Bacon
Ketchup
Mustard
Mayonnaise
Instructions
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat, or 400-450 degrees. Lightly oil the grates.
- In a large bowl, whisk the egg. Add all the remaining burger ingredients and, using clean hands, mix until just combined. Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and shape into patties, about ¼ to ½-inch by 3 inches in size.
- Once the grill is preheated, place the patties on the grates and grill for 4-5 minutes per side for well done, or until an internal temperature of 160 degrees is reached. Serve alongside desired toppings.
Cook’s Notes
1) The USDA recommends that ground meats are cooked to an internal temperature of at least 160 degrees F. Cooking ground meats to any other level of doneness should be done at your own discretion.
